Ballinasloe is part of the Hidden Heartlands promoted by Bord Fáilte/Discover Ireland. With Ballinasloe’s fantastic waterways, walks and clubs we should be targeting this funding for our town and developing parks and Greenways.

Western Development Commission selected the new enterprise facilities upstairs at the library on Society St to launch their strategy Work Smarter, Live Better WDC Strategy 2019-2021. Lyn Donnelly, company manager at Ballinasloe Area Community Development (BACD) highlighted that there is 27,000 sq ft available at the enterprise centre in Creagh with over 25 enterprises based there and 175 people employed.

Public urged to avoid Portiuncula Emergency Department

The Saolta Hospital group has appealed to people to avoid presenting at the Emergency Department at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, due to a significant pressures caused by respiratory and flu-like illness.

Estimated 10,000 people strike for climate change last month

April 11, 2019

Young people across Ireland are protesting at 37 rallies seeking urgent action to address the growing threat of climate breakdown.

The events, being staged in solidarity with the global schools strikes for climate action movement, prompted by the Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg.

They are being supported by parents; teachers, third level students, NGOs and members of the public.
